Reiki Healing

Reiki means “universal life energy.” The word Rei means universal or divine wisdom and the word Ki is the life-force (Chi in Chinese and Prana in Sanskrit) or vital energy within all living things.

During a treatment the Ki (or Chi), the energy is channelled through the hands of the practitioner, which makes Reiki a simple yet powerful healing technique originating in Japan.

Reiki works with this vital force much like acupuncture, tai chi or yoga does, but in its own unique system.

Reiki heals on all levels of a person: mental, physical, emotional and spiritual, to restore balance, and enhance health and wellbeing.

During a Reiki treatment the client remains fully clothed, as Reiki passes through clothing. The client usually lies on a treatment couch, futon or sits in a chair if they find lying down uncomfortable.

The Reiki practitioner places their hands gently, in a series of non-intrusive positions covering the client's body. Each hand position is held for several minutes. The whole person is treated, not just isolated areas.

There are many benefits of Reiki

  • compliments other healing practices

  • reduces stress and anxiety, and promotes relaxation

  • relieves headaches, colds, flu, fatigue, menstrual pain, stomach upsets, and injuries

  • promotes faster recovery from surgery, especially when given before

  • enhances creativity, communication and learning abilities

  • increases confidence and self-esteem

Reiki is a powerful tool for personal growth and improving the quality of life
